Western Love, Continued.

* The West Is Still Back *

* This week started out quite fun with a show de-installation in williamsburg with my zing cohorts followed by a delicious luncharoo
*After, I had many trips to the post office in which i built bicep stamina and got even friendlier with our postal service employees, although I believe we may have worn out our welcome at this particular location as they threw tude at my fellow cohort
*Last week I had the joy of manning the gallery for the end of my editor's show, met an artist in the building, but truthfully that was the only soul i encountered. the world doesnt know what theyre missin yalls. i got some exercise by running around the gallery to keep my boot toasty! the gallery is a great space though, maybe one day....maybe one day.

*Last nite i watched 'Badlands' with Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek, a 70's classic. This is kind of post Bonnie & Clyde but pre Natural Born Killers lovers on the run movie, but as opposed to the glorification in the former and latter, this is more quiet. You definetly get the eerie sense that these people dont care who they are killing, let alone that theyre killing at all. The real star however is the American landscape. It was like landscape porn. In the movie they just drive endlessly across the Great Plains, not even on a road. I imagine its kind of romantic and liberating not driving on roads.....just blazin across the landscape is a dream only our original explorers were able to indulge, sigh...

*Side Bar: Did anyone else play Oregon Trail on Apple II E's? I always died of dysentery. Boo.

No Wow

Last night (thanks to a good friend who works for Domino Records) I attended the Nylon fashion week party. The Kills preformed. They are probably the two coolest people in the universe. They just reek of cool. Check it.
In other news, I visited Brooklyn for the first time this past weekend to see the Liars preform at Warsaw. I walked around Williamsburg for awhile (which I decided was like Greenwich village with the top shaved off) and I was surprised at how much I liked it. Maybe I shall live there one day.......

Cool words: paucity, lackadaisical, comb, anticlimactic, austere, devotchka, caterwaul, equestrian, plait, tithe....

There Will Be...A Motion Picture Worth Seeing

* HOT MOVIE ALERT *

Yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing a movie that was actually good. I think the last time I actually enjoyed a film was like two years ago, so this was a revelation. Well, really thats not true...this was the first current good movie I saw, while Blade Runner and Badlands are amazing but not brand spanking new. Anyways, PT Anderson has a real knack for combining visuals with the perfect score (Boogie Nights soundtrack anyone?) that induced a state of mesmerization. I was transported to turn of the century California, my cynical disbelief suspended...which is in itself a feat. Daniel Day-Lewis is insanely talented and insanely hot, and my obsession with union suits, thermals, long johns and turn of the century miner's wear was satiated. Seriously, the fashion in this movie was insane, so much so that i predict that well be seeing its influence on these here streets quite soon if not already. The West is hot again people. Although there are arguments that this a giant allegory, who gives a crap, enjoy the fact that a director respects the audience enough to tell a story worth seeing and hearing, and something divergent than the usual Hollywood garbage.GO SEE THIS FILM BEFORE I BUY YOU A TICKET.

*all was well until the PO crushed our distribution dreams...something about dubya and retardation...its almost like goverment institutions are designed to be inefficient and annoying. shame on you canal PO...shame on you. no shame for my intern cohort and zings fearless leader who stood at the PO for hours on end making sure the masses get their zing! more props yalls.

SCREW YALLS. its cool though...cause im rolling up on brooklyn for my second tour of bushwick, and i could fit like 8 of those midget homes in my new apt. lookout for the Bushwick Reunion Tour 2008 party invites in the next couple weeks.

il pleut

Icky-gross day. Walked to work in the rain. I need to invest in an umbrella.
Sorted envelopes.
Boxes and boxes of magazines + transferring them from upstairs to the street = no gym tonight. Yay.
There are a TON of colleges/universities in NYC/LA/Denver/Austin/Chicago.

Long week. Very tired.
New discoveries: packaging peanuts dissolve in water; A Starbucks latte is $5...waaay overpriced; Duct tape doesn't actually hold the universe together (much to my dismay); Indiana Jones is probably the most awesome person ever; hummus and mustard make an excellent combination; you can indeed overdose on vitamin c; a hemidemisemiquaver is a 64th note.
