Early departure

I had to leave early to take care of my school related problems.

I was some what productive, I ordered a bunch of condoms and figured out how to make squares on adobe design.

I might be wasting my youth.

Midtown?

Why did I go to Midtown? Oh, yes...cibachrome (sp.?). I dislike Midtown.

It's very difficult to find contact information for tequila brands public relations. Does anyone know anything about Corazon de agave teuqila? It might be this or Patron or something at the Armory Party.

Anna and I, an anonymous intern, decided that we would splice The Warriors with video footage from the armory and perhaps even superimpose them and project the whole thing on T-beca Grand's wall with a projector. Can you count suckerrrrrssss???

And now a quote from Beckett: "This should all be written in the pluperfect."

Cold

I'm in a bad mood today. I was bested by the email system, a fax machine, and a tape dispenser. I threatened to quit but my threats were weren't taken seriously, not even by myself.

Trying to find cheap condoms for a party. Fun, fun.

Oh yeah, and Devon, the founder/editor, was here today, she was supportive of my spazzy, unprofessional behavior (I think).

visit to storage facilities with dan.

report from manhole fire, "target the beige camry."

jour numero deux

Today I copy/pasted e-mail addresses into a Word document for a few hours. The addresses were organized by country, so I got to see which places all the readers live in. There were some highly surprising addresses. South Korea, Israel--Estonia?? How would someone from Estonia even find an obscure American art magazine like Zing?

Later we interns had to go to storage to count how many copies of each issue there were, and bring some back to the loft. Oh my god, it was so cold out, even all bundled up in winterwear. I cannot wait to go to sleep later tonight. My bed is so cozy and toasty warm. Yum.

And now it's off to the gallery opening.

day: one

First day at Zing (how very exciting, no?). Spent the morning looking up tequila brands online. Some of them had terrible websites that were of very little help in finding a media relations phone number. Then I googled "zingmagazine" for a few hours trying to find news articles about the zine. I got to play with InDesign when I found a workable article, so that was enjoyable. I just learned to use it a few months ago, so it still feels like playing with a new toy. Fun!

Oh, I also get to answer the phone. I'm such a good little secretary.

Tomorrow there is a gallery opening that we're going to. Nice. I am well on my way to becoming a pretentious, elitist art critic. Go me!

In other news, I moved into my new apartment last night. It's lovely. Then I promptly received two parking tickets in one night. I'm never driving down here again. It's going to be Greyhound/Amtrak/JetBlue/random carpool from now on. I can't wait for SU classes to be over, so I can just stay put. I've had enough of this five-hour commute nonsense.

First day

First days are always exciting. I found it very exciting to enter email addresses into a Word Document all day. The monotonous work gave me time to reflect. I asked myself many questions such as:
"Do I use the word 'dude' too much to be taken seriously?"

And

"Is it appropriate to drink margaritas in the winter time?"

I did not get around to answering those questions, but perhaps some day I will.
